This isn't exactly a menu, but it is a quick list of some of the interesting or traditional Christmas cookie recipes that we like to prepare. A big tradition in Brad's family growing up was a huge array of Christmas Cookies laid out for the holiday season. He still insists today on having some tasty treats to enjoy, often with a good cup of coffee (and quite frequently for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the occassional snack).
Praline
Strips
This is an all time classic in Brad's family, and probably his favorite
cookie of all time. The beautiful thing is how simple it is to make!
Spitzbuben
Another of Brad's favorites, this incredibly rich cookie is about
as good as they come paired with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Basler
Lekerli
A wonderful Swiss cookie which is actually more like a
bar than a cookie. Rumor has it these cookies got their name from
a combination of originating in Basel Switzerland (thus Basler)
and because children would lick their sweet glaze much like a lolli-pop!
Melomakarona
This is a very tasty Greek Christmas cookie that we found and tried.
It is excellent with a nice cup of afternoon tea.
Nut
Boats
This is an excellent cookie of German origin, similar to a cookie
Brad remembered trying as a child. We pulled this recipe form a
website where it was very highly recommended.
